Tove Blomqvist

About me

I am a licensed psychologist and offer parental support in the form of advisory and supportive consultations. Currently, I can offer phone calls and digital calls.

Background

I took my psychology degree at Åbo Akademi in Finland in 2005, but I have worked my entire professional life in Sweden. I have extensive experience in supervisory, consultative and continuing education work within, above all, schools and preschools. I have also worked with assessments within Child and Adolescent Psychiatry for a few years.

Approach and method

I offer advisory and supportive consultation to parents/guardians and other close relatives who have children or young people in their care.

My approach is based on a attachment and developmental psychological basis. The adults in the child/youth's life are their important people and the aim of the consultations is to increase the responsible adults' understanding of the children and young people under their care.

Parenthood and the situation of children and young people can sometimes create challenges in different ways and the opportunity to get support through a professional consultation can create conditions for moving forward in difficult situations.

The concerns and questions of the adult seeking a consultation can encompass different areas such as the child's/young person's well-being, general development in various areas, functional variations, social difficulties or other factors within the family/network that may be important for the child's/young person's situation. If necessary, I can also help with guidance to other treating bodies within the health care system.

The purpose of the consultations is to increase the responsible adults' understanding of the child's/young person's developmental and relational needs. An increased understanding can in turn contribute to new insights, provide conditions for increased relational security and contribute to a good development for the child/youth and the family as a whole.

In addition to the knowledge and experience base I have through my psychology education and work experience, I have further deepened my knowledge by studying the attachment-based, developmental psychology model developed by Canadian developmental psychologist Gordon Neufeld. This model is an important cornerstone in my understanding of the needs of children/adolescents and families.
